Anneka (Ani) Williams

I'm Anneka but you can call me Ani. I'm a writer and climate scientist.

I hold an MSc in Climate Change Science from the University of Copenhagen and a BA from Bowdoin College in Biology and Earth & Oceanographic Science. I grew up in Vermont's Mad River Valley, roaming around New England’s trails, lapping steep, icy ski runs at Mad River Glen, and helping with my family's yak farm.

Today, I pursue stories, mountain trails, and work in far-flung places, including the mountains of Chilean Patagonia, the Bhutanese Himalaya, the streets of Copenhagen, the trails of the French Alps, the Alaskan tundra, and the high-altitude Andean paramo. As a writer, I often explore the confluence of climate and outdoor recreation. As a scientist, my work has investigated the impact of climate change on high-altitude and high-latitude ecosystems and communities. You can most often find me exploring the nearest mountains on skis or on foot, reading whatever I can get my hands on, or scheming my next big adventure.

Skills and Certs: AIARE Level 1, Mountaineering Safety Course (Chamonix Mountain Guides), formal training in Socratic dialogue facilitation, Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and a bunch of technical research / data analytics skills.
