Moira Hough

Moira has been with us since the beginning, mentoring at both the ‘21 and ‘22 Colorado camps. Our participants have raved about how they love her ability to balance scientific rigor with excellent communications skills and relentless optimism.

Moira Hough earned her PhD in arctic ecology from the University of Arizona’s Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology with an interest in understanding how arctic and alpine ecosystems respond to climate change. Her current research focuses on arctic peatlands in northern Sweden, where warming is causing rapid changes in the balance between plant growth and soil decomposition by microbes which control carbon cycling.
