Peyton Thomas

Peyton is a rare human — a scientist, athlete, and activist (oh, and just a great person). She’s been all-in on our mission from the beginning and has mentored at both the ‘21 and ‘22 Colorado camps.

Peyton holds a Ph.D. in Biology and Marine Biology and is studying the effects of chronic environmental conditions, and variables such as temperature and oxygen availability, on marine species such as sharks.

She is an organiser with the Sunrise Movement, a pro athlete with Patagonia and NNormal, and a member of the Protect Our Winters trail alliance team. Clearly, Peyton knows how to stay busy.

But, of course, that’s not all. She’s also an accomplished athlete in her own right. She’s a former D1 college runner, and in 2019 ran her first marathon in 2:42, a time that qualified her for the 2020 US Olympic Trials. She recently moved to Boulder, Colorado after completing her Ph.D. and is leaning more than ever into the trail running community.
